hello fellow humans. my newsletter maker website told me this newsletter was too long and may get clipped. in response, i REFUSED TO COMPROMISE. enjoy all of the content. so much fun content.
here are some bonus tracks, sheep!
just a reminder that any typos are on purpose. if you catch one, you passed the test!
Mexican Coke is out, Fentanyl and Asbestos are in
no, i am not telling you guys to do drugs. don’t do that! what i am doing is telling you is that there were some recent developments in the hardcore metal music scene.
you see… a number of weeks ago, the best tour lineup ever was announced. Mexican Coke, Fentanyl, and Asbestos, all real bands, teamed up for a few shows out West. only for things to go horribly wrong. shockingly, for a band named Mexican Coke, the vocalist got wasted and started fighting people in the audience. it apparently did not go well, as was eloquently reported by this journalist Reddit user below:
so anyways, it ruined the tour. Mexican Coke is out. don’t do drugs, kids.
AI playlists for everyone but Jack Black
Spotify released a new AI feature and I don’t know how to feel. essentially, you can describe your vibe and a playlist will magically generate before your eyes. you see, the fun in playlist making is typically the treasure hunting, the curation, the discoveries, the journey of it all. and now Spotify can’t even let us have that.
i gave some prompts a try, including:
french jazz funk from the 70s (eh, like half these songs make sense.)
Music that Jack Black would like (it literally rejected my request)
I’m a mouse. I’m a cute little mouse. (it actually came up with something)
Weird underground math rock (mostly pretty good)
hot take, Spotify has done the best job of any company in developing AI features that make sense. it doesn’t mean that i’m happy about it. but alas, Spotify is effective in its goal to jam as many songs as humanly possible down our throats until we beg for mercy. we don’t even have to try anymore. in the future, we’ll just grunt and Spotify will serve me a piping hot bowl of Sabrina Carpenter that i didn’t ask for.
anyways. i’m baking a cake.
for those wondering, when i specified that the cake tasted bad, it gave me a Bollywood playlist. hmmmm….. if you want to try it yourself, navigate to your Spotify app, click the “+” in the top right, and you should see the thing.
